GIC launches new talent recruitment programme

GICSINGAPORE: The Government of Singapore Investment Corp (GIC) has launched a new talent recruitment programme.

Besides looking for candidates with good academic qualifications and work experience, the Young Professionals Programme also identifies those with the right cultural fit for the organisation.

The one-year programme targets fresh graduates or graduates who have been out of university for no more than four years who want to build a career with GIC.

Conducted in Singapore, the programme starts with five weeks of intensive classroom training, followed by three job rotations of two months each in GIC.

GIC said the programme underlines its strategy to continually seek talent for the long term, regardless of whether the economy is up or down.

GIC Group President Lim Siong Guan said candidates should possess good IQ, EQ and AQ – adversity quotient – on top of other criteria.

A pioneer batch of 12 candidates, aged 23 to 27, was selected out of some 2,000 applicants.

GIC’s deputy chairman and executive director, Tony Tan, officiated at the launch on Wednesday morning.
