CAMBRIDGE, England: A young protester hurled a shoe at Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao

It seems Former President Bush is not the only one having shoes thrown at him. A protestor threw a shoe at Chinese premier Wen Jiabao as delivered a speech at Cambridge University today. It seems throwing shoes is the new protestor thing to do. One has to wonder, will they start taking off the audience’s shoes before entering a speech?

The shoe landed on the stage about a metre from Wen, who was speaking on the global economy. The protester, who was held by university security guards, shouted: “How can the university prostrate itself with this dictator?”

As the protester was bundled out, he shouted to audience members: “Stand up and protest,” to which some of the spectators – most of whom appeared to be Chinese students – retorted: “Shame on you, shame on you.”

After the interruption, Wen reproached the demonstrator.

“This despicable behaviour cannot stand in the way of friendship between China and the UK,” he said, receiving a round of applause from the audience.

Guess this time round, no ones really care about the size of the shoe.
